Before Nelly took over hip-hop with songs like “Hot In Here,” “Country Grammar” and “Ride With Me,” the leader of the St. Lunatics entered the baseball diamond and stepped up to bat. Nelly played in the All-Star game for the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association as a youngster and despite being a substitute for that game, he was honored with the MVP award after he led his team to a late-inning comeback. From there, Nelly went to multiple camps and was scouted by certain coaches, but that’s where it ends for the hitmaker. Would he give it another shot? Nelly says, “You never know. Wouldn’t be a bad idea.”
