Raekwon & Jay Electronica Pack Tons Of Surprises Into 2014 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
by Staff Editor
Last night marked the 10-year anniversary of the iconic Brooklyn Hip-Hop festival and thanks to headliners Raekwon and Jay Electronica, it was a night to remember.
Jay Elect had several tricks up his sleeve as the Roc Nation lyricist brought out a ton of special guests. The first comrade to join him on stage was Mac Miller, who performed “Suplexes Inside Of Complexes and Duplexes” off of his latest album Watching Movies With The Sound Off. Mac admits on twitter that he forgot the end of his verse and had to save the show with an “awkward” freestyle. Still was exciting to see him and Jay Elect on stage.
Next to join the stage was Jay E’s Roc Nation brethren J. Cole, as well as Talib Kweli who performed “Just Begun”, which set the crowd off. And the last guest to join the stage and close out the show was the Roc Nation leader Jay Z who performed “Shiny Suit Theory”, his and Jay Elect’s “We Made It” freestyle and his classic track “P.S.A. (Public Service Announcement).”
Despite the fact that he stays behind the scenes and in the shadows most of the time, Jay Electronica proved to fans that he’s still got what it takes to be successful in hip-hop. Towards the end of the show, Jay Z gave Jay Elect the ultimate sign of approval by blessing him with a Roc chain.
