New Video: J. Cole – ‘Lights Please’
by Staff Editor
Continuing with the celebration of the five-year anniversary of The Warm Up, J. Cole joined Sway on RapFix Live to speak on the history of the project. During his time on the show, J. Cole discussed the process necessary for him to release his album and gain the trust of his label behind him. While discussing his original lacks of singles, Cole acknowledged that he “turned the corner” after he wrote “Lights Please,” also revealing that it is a fan and personal favorite.
While speaking on “Lights Please” the Born Sinner shared that the original plan was for it, as well as other tracks, to be singles for his debut album. Those chosen singles Cole went on to film videos for. The video for “Lights Please” never saw the light of day, until now. Before the premiere of the video, J. Cole shared that he hasn’t even seen the video himself.
Within the set of visuals, J. Cole climbs the stairs to visit a woman who doesn’t hesitate to show Cole a good time in the bedroom. Shot back in 2008, Cole is also seen on a rooftop before returning back inside to his escape from the bedroom. Check out the throwback, but new, video above.
