Some much-needed attention away from Brown’s legal disputes and back on his vocals and MJ-inspired dance moves is critical. (Just imagine what the Billboard Music Awards would’ve been had Breezy been able to moon walk alongside the Michael Jackson hologram.) And while “Loyal” receives plenty of airtime on and offstage, the release of “Don’t Be Gone Too Long” will serve as a step in the right direction. The last single he teased before the clank of metal became his reigning soundtrack, the Ariana-assisted track will prove that he truly is “back to the music” as he tweeted upon getting out.

Despite the shaky interview history in recent years, sitting down with the right folks to give us an update on when to expect for both forthcoming rap&B projects is necessary. Originally slated for summer releases, inquiring minds would like to know: how much longer will these projects be delayed?

Team Breezy is hungry for the “Fine China” crooner to get back to work. And work is good for the artist who is fully capable to put out chart-topping hits and take over Summer Jam stages without physically being there. “Loyal” hit the stage three separate times on Sunday (June 1). Fans live for Chris’ live, fancy footwork. Singing along to the song without him physically being there proves that he is missed by fans and the musical community alike.

We want and expect singles to be the anthems of breakups, make-ups and two-steps. Losing focus now would result in disappointment for the fans who chanted “Free CB” at Summer Jam and the artists who want to see him succeed like Trey and Sevyn Streeter. Music is counting on you to continue your contributions to R&B we can still bump to.

Chris Brown’s brief hiatus shouldn’t be seen as a comeback, rather a return to reclaim his spot on the R&B and pop charts. Your throne awaits.
