Rapper and reality star Benzino was shot multiple times during the funeral procession of his mother. 7News of Boston reports that Benzino was shot by his own nephew, Gai Scott, as a result of “growing family tension.”

The incident occurred as a Bentley which carried Benzino’s nephew pulled up next to the rapper’s SUV and opened fire . After the shooting Benzino exited the vehicle and was taken to police in Duzbury, Massachusetts by a passerby before being taken to the hospital.

News of the incident was not known by other members of the funeral until the hearse pulled up to the church with blood stains that were acknowledged by Father William Williams. “I said to one of the guys: ‘There’s blood on the hearse.’ There was an incident along the way,” Williams told 7News.

Gai Scott was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder. Benzino is currently listed in stable condition.
