Amidst his impromptu Twitter rants and quirky relationship troubles, Chris Brown sat down with JET Magazine to shed some light on the ups and downs of his life in and out of the limelight.

The “Love More” artist addressed his portrayal in the media as being biased toward the negative points in his career, with no regard for the good. “The media is full of yellow journalism,” he says. “A lot of things I say, they will flip it. Instead of them getting off on all the positive stuff that I do, they will bring out the negative and draw out that story.”

Chris also discussed how he was directly impacted by the life of Trayvon Martin. “I identify with Trayvon 100 percent as far as living in 2013 and still dealing with blatant racism. This generation is so used to racism that it’s normal; we don’t care. We aren’t on drugs or catching AIDS, but they still look at us as ni**as.”

News has been swirling for the past year about his dealings with pop princess and former lover Rihanna, and his on-and-off again girlfriend Karreuche Tran. Brown opened up for the umpteenth time, explaining the difficult situation as remaining true to his heart by being open and honest. “My ex and I broke up because of the “situation” and she had moved on. I fell in love with another girl. Then my ex came back, so it was like, ‘What is a man to do?’ I told them both the truth. I didn’t do the sucker role.”
