XXL is turning back the clock with five special covers for this month’s edition to celebrate 40 years of hip hop. Each of the collector’s covers feature one of the most iconic figures in hip hop history.

Fans of the genre over the years will be able to take a mental flashback through the growth of hip hop as the covers featured are: LL Cool J from 1988, Jay Z from 1996, Outkast from 2000, Snoop Dogg from 1995 and Lil Wayne from 2000.
