Civil TV: YG Premieres ‘Blame It On The Streets’ In LA
by Staff Editor
Since dropping his hit, debut album My Krazy Life earlier this year, YG has been having quite the stand-out year. It’s only right that the Compton MC closes with year with another release based upon the LP. Written by the “Who Do You Love” rapper, YG officially premiered his short film, Blame It On The Streets, in L.A. last night (Nov. 25).
Originally hoping to put out the short film as an accompaniment to his debut LP, YG received the support from his label to figure out how to put a movie together before the year officially closed.
“The goal was to create a classic album and a short film but when we dropped the album we didn’t have enough time to shoot the movie so we had to figure out a way how to put a movie out. So we figured it out and put it out the same year, Dec. 2014,” he explained.
With our very own Karen Civil moderating the Q&A, the new movie maker dished on the process of choosing his actors and more for this first ever film. In support of his efforts, Fergie, DJ Mustard, Hit-Boy, Too Short, Ricky Gonzalez, Trae The Truth, Ty Dolla $ign, and more stepped out for the premiere.
Add the short film and accompanying soundtrack to your holiday wish list when Blame It On The Streets hits stores and iTunes on Dec. 15. Watch our Civil TV recap above.
