Beyoncé’s Self-Titled Album Goes Double Platinum
by Staff Editor
It seems like every other day either Beyoncé or her counterpart Jay Z are accomplishing something big and something memorable; today is no different for the Queen Bey herself.
Last December, Beyoncé shocked the world (and changed the game) with the surprise release of her 5th solo studio album Beyoncé and today, just 7 months later, the album which received no marketing and no promotion has been certified double platinum by the RIAA selling a total of 2,003,000 copies to date.
Talk about impressive.
It was a normal Saturday evening in the e-streets when one of music’s biggest stars unceremoniously dropped her new self-titled album that proved to be one of her best to date. Beyoncé went against the grain and released her 5th studio album out of the blue, with 0 marketing dollars behind it. She randomly announced that the album was released and also let us know that a music video will be available for each song on the album, upon purchasing the 14-track collection.
That was it. The rest was left to the Beyhive who did what they do best by supporting Beyoncé to the fullest and making Beyoncé break iTunes record The popular and revealing album from Bey has already surpassed her last album release, 4, which to date has sold a total of 1.4 million copies.
Congratulations to Beyoncé and the Beyhive for this great accomplishment. Purchase tickets for Beyoncé and Jay Z’s “On The Run” tour here.
