Mary J. Blige to Receive Lifetime Honor at BET Awards

The BET Awards will be honoring the Grammy award-winning, Academy award-nominated actress and philanthropist  Mary J. Blige with the lifetime achievement award this year. The singer will be feted during the 19th annual ceremony, which will be broadcasted live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 23 (8:00 p.m. ET).   

Blige’s music career consist of nine Grammy wins, 32 nominations, and eight multi-platinum albums. In the film industry, She’s also received two Golden Globe nominations and one SAG nod. She even made Oscar history in 2018 for being the first double nominee in the best supporting actress and best song categories for her role in Mudbound.

Blige will now be in the same category for BET’s lifetime achievement honorees such as Anita Baker, New Edition, Charlie Wilson, Prince, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross and James Brown.

As for the rest of the show, the 19th annual BET Awards will be hosted by Regina Hall and will include performances from Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Migos, H.E.R., Lil Nas X with Billy Ray Cyrus, Lizzo, Mustard, Lil Baby, Yung Miami of City Girls, Lucky Daye and Kiana Ledé.
