A biopic is in the works for Wu-Tang Clan founding member , Ol’ Dirty Bastard (O.D.B). Sony Columbia Pictures is developing the legendary rapper’s life story for the big screen while Wu-Tang Clan leader, RZA, produces the film.

Wu-Tang Clan was born out of Staten Island, New York. The legendary hip-hop group has trailblazed the hip-hop industry and has influenced many artists within the genre. In the early 90’s, the group the garnered attention with their first album, Enter The Wu-Tang : 36 Chambers. For the 1997 Grammy’s , Wu-Tang Clan was nominated for Best Rap Album for their second studio album, Wu-Tang forever.

In 1995, O.D.B released his first solo project, Return to the 36 Chambers : Dirty Version. The album spawned two hit singles, Brooklyn Zoo and Shimmy Shimmy Ya. Along with his musical success, O.D.B was known for his peculiar behavior. He once went to the New York State Welfare office by limousine with his seven children , to cash his welfare check. The entire incident was filmed by an MTV camera crew and was broadcasted nationwide.

There has been talks about an O.D.B biopic for a long time. RZA talked about the possibility of a biopic to Rolling Stone in 2016 stating, “[Straight Outta Compton] showed that with the proper team and marketing, many of us out here who grew up on this music would love to see the inside makings of those stories.”
