Ty Dolla $ign was arrested by Atlanta police Wednesday (September 5) afternoon for allegedly possessing cocaine and marijuana.

The R&B crooner along with six others were stopped in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Atlanta police said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a search of the car located marijuana and cocaine, police said. Due to the legality of marijuana in various places, Ty Dolla $ign has said that he was legally permitted to possess the marijuana found and that he, nor the six others should be charged with the allegation. Allegedly one of the people accompanying Ty told the officers to go and check the data collected from the cannabis pos system used for the purchase of the cannabis at a dispensary. However, due to the possession of the cocaine too, the officers ignored the request and resumed their duties. Officers are now in the process of filing charges.

It appears Ty will be charged with possessing less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of cocaine. He’ll be taken to the Fulton County Jail when the charges are finalized. The other six were released without charges, police said.
