Drake Nice For What No. 1

The hip-hop superstar broke the internet over the weekend when his new album ‘Scorpion’ became the most streamed project ever in a day, on any platform. One of those record-breaking platforms was Spotify, where the rapper took over the covers of the streaming service’s playlists this weekend, leaving some customers complaining of advertisements on their ad-free accounts. Some of the playlists he wasn’t even featured on, nevertheless the genre. Lots of people are wishing they just gotten the music converted from youtube to mp4 for free rather than pay for Spotify Premium.

Deemed #ScorpionSZN, the takeover was intended to be a playful celebration of the most streamed artist on the platform, but some see it as a conflict, especially when paying for premium ad-free versions of Spotify.

Angry subscribers began requesting for a refund, believing the Drake spam was considered advertisement.

Reddit user Schwagschwag shared his complaint and apparently received a refund for one month’s payment after speaking to customer service. Other users have reported that their refund requests were denied, prompting some decisions to cancel their subscriptions altogether.

This is the first time a single artist has taken over multiple Spotify playlists on one day. According to Billboard, Scorpion broke Spotify’s one-week streaming record in just three days – racking up 431m streams over the weekend. The streaming platform declined to comment on the situation, but sources told Billboard the complaints have been relatively minimal and no refund policy has been put in place.
