Wrapping up quarter one of 2018 music calendar with some exciting new releases. This week, we highlight some bright and soulful new additions to the R&B genre. Take a listen and let us know what you think.

Artist: Smiles Davis + Quiñ

Track: Just A Game

Hot Take: Multifaceted DJ with a decade behind the decks for Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe & more joins forces with the vibe inducing rising star Quiñ to create a woozy Electro-Afrobeat dipped bop.

Artist: JSPH

Track: When You

Hot Take: Loaded with soaring falsetto, new artist JSPH drops his first single of 2018 “When You”. Feeling both fresh & nostalgic, the law school grad turned singer-songwriter rides a groovy wave you can catch. An artist to watch in 2018.

Artist: Chrystian Lehr

Track: Hit My Line (ft. Junior)

Hot Take: Most known recently for his self produced covers & mashups, the 106 & Park alum just released his dance heavy visual to his lates single “Hit My Line” which features a classic R&B falsetto guided by a thumping beat with masterfully executed runs.

Artist: ODIE

Track: Northface

Hot Take: Dream-like soul singing comes from this Bay Area/Toronto singer that uses his own blend of R&B with Hip-Hop almost like a chant. His album “Analogue” is one to get lost in, “Northface” & “Little Lies” are standouts.

Artist: Lou Val

Track: Crisp

Hot Take: The canadian newcomer singer brings moody melancholy meets optimism to the game with “Crisp”. Sonically a mix between The Weeknd & Frank Ocean, Lou Val brings croons with a new vibrancy alongside his contemporaries.
