Keeping things going on a high note, Cole dropped a fiery version of “Forbidden Fruit” and “Neighbors” as it set him for the most compelling monologue of the night. J Cole recalled the time when his white suburban neighbor called the SWAT team on him while he was working on new music because apparently, there was a lot of “Black” activity going on in the neighborhood (that’s how “Neighbors” came about).

Cole then proceeded with “Foldin Clothes,” as it celebrates the simple things in life. He also acknowledged the fact that when you’re young, you don’t really resonate with the actual meaning of the song until you get older and then realize the true meaning behind a song. After that, he performed “She’s Mine Pt 1 and Pt 2,” which is song about the joys of parenthood.

The lights then dimmed a little more and J Cole hit us once again with another set of songs off his album, Forest Hills Drive, which were “Power Trip,” “Love Yourz,” “No Role Modelz,” and “G.O.M.D.”

The most iconic moment of the evening came as J Cole was getting ready to depart from the stage, while fans chanted “J Cole, J Cole…” and of course, the MC wasn’t going to leave them hanging. He then said, “if you don’t want to hear somebody running through some real sh*t for eight minutes and really give you a story… this is your time to beat the traffic.” And while some people did start to leave the venue, The Forum was still jammed packed with thousands of screaming fans as he finished with an epic performance of “4 Your Eyez Only.”

Without a doubt, it’s safe to say that Jermaine Lamarr Cole gave Los Angeles one powerful message during his night one of the two shows at The Forum in Inglewood.
