Rolling Loud 2017

The sun was beaming bright and early on Saturday morning as Day 2 got underway. I like to say this day was reserved for the younger generation as we got shutdown performances from all sorts of buzzing newcomers including: Jazz Cartier, Jay IDK, Wifisfuneral, Ski Mask The Slump God, Denzel Curry, XXXTentacion, Trill Sammy, Nebu Kinizia and many others.

One of the most talked about artists of the whole weekend was the controversial newcomer XXXTentacion. His set was interesting, to say the least…

But, that said, Rolling Loud didn’t leave their older fans hanging either as we enjoyed performances from Chief Keef, Run The Jewels, Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$ and of course our headliners, Kendrick Lamar and Young Thug.

All day Saturday, folks were talking about the fact that Chief Keef was still scheduled to perform despite having a warrant out for his arrest. After coming on stage a bit late with police flooded around the backstage, not only did Keef give us a performance, but he gave us a full set, 30+ minute shutdown experience that had Bayfront Park and the Monster Stage turned on its head. The best part? Keef not only didn’t get arrested after his performance, but he causally hopped in a golf cart and drove off. Gotta love it.

As the night came to a close, the west coast superstar, Kendrick Lamar, graced the Postmates stage, while Thugger hit the Monster Stage about 30 minutes after him. K. Dot ran through a bunch of hits from his recent number 1 and platinum-selling album DAMN, as well as his classic records like “Swimming Pools,” “Don’t Kill My Vibe” and more. Thug, on the other hand, has way too many hits to play in just one festival set, so he did his best to give fans a taste of everything.

Saturday proved that Rolling Loud has a grip on the current state of hip-hop and gave us a mix of everything: Up and coming artists, proven veterans, and buzzing sensations that may or may not last.
