Next up on Genius’ insightful series deemed “VERIFIED” is the Maryland native Logic, who has a new album on the horizon.

Titled Everybody, Logic sat down with Rob Markman to break down the lyrics to the album’s title track, which he just released last night. Tackling the topic of race, here’s what Logic had to say about his new single:

“On this specific song I’m letting it be known that I have experienced racism from both ends,” he tells Genius. “Because of that—it sucks and it hurts—but I’m here to say that we’re all people and we all are treated fucked up. I wanna be there to say something for people in the biracial community as well, that’s it.”

Logic wrote this song two years ago as well, and at the time didn’t know what the concept for it would be. Fast-forward til now, the young lyricist has it all figured out.
