Pusha T is the latest star to cover Complex Magazine, and will do so for the forthcoming December/January issue. For the cover story, Pusha had a bunch to discuss.

First and foremost, Pusha talked about the 2016 presidential election and what a Trump presidency now means. “I just thought it said so much about America,” Pusha admits. He goes on to say the blatant disrespect Trump showed throughout the campaign should’ve been enough to end him. Pusha also touched on the issue of mass incarceration and his desire to put an end to it asap.

The G.O.O.D. Music president also spoke on the criticism his latest signee Desiigner has received since breaking on the scene with “Panda.” Pusha defends him to a tee and explains that fans’ perception doesn’t dictate his.

Then, Pusha spoke on the alleged diss from Drake on his track “Two Birds, One Stone.” Quickly brushing it off, and making it clear that’s not where his focus is, Pusha says if Drake was talking about him, then he’s severely misguided on Pusha’s past.

See some more quotes below.

On Trump’s election:

“I just thought it said so much about America. I just didn’t understand how he could speak so ill to so many different groups of people and they still find a way to support him.”
“The [support from] white women was a bit much for me. I thought that said a lot,” he continues. “The blatant disrespect to that group in particular, over and over again throughout the campaign—the people who voted for him did not care.”

On criticism of Desiigner:

“I don’t subscribe to anything or anybody who speaks ill of anybody on the label, especially Desiigner,” he tells Complex. “I want ground-breaking creativity,” which he said he has found in the G.O.O.D. Music signee. “This is another moral obligation that I feel I need to bring to the game.”

On Drake’s alleged diss on “Two Birds, One Stone”:

“I would never, ever attribute that [song] to myself. My past is cemented. My past happened. Like slavery happened. The Holocaust happened. You can’t ever question anything that has actually happened.” When pressed on whether Drake was rapping about him, Pusha adds, “Listen. I’m not speaking to him at all. I’m telling you, the real of it is: It ain’t real if it’s about me.”

On mass incarceration:

“I do think [Hillary] cares about mass incarceration. Now, why she cares versus why I care, that could be different. I don’t really have time to deal in that. I’m going to continue to fight up until Inauguration Day, then we have to strategize a bit better with regard to how and what we’re going to do going forward. It’s truly going to be tough and everyone knows that.”
