Listen To 2 New Tracks From ‘The Hamilton Mixtape’ Featuring The Roots, Busta Rhymes & More
by Staff Editor
After announcing The Hamilton Mixtape the other day, the music releases are starting to unfold.
With the tape dropping on Dec. 2nd, the front man Lin-Manuel Miranda lets loose two new tracks: “My Shot (“Rise Up” remix)” from The Roots feat. Busta Rhymes, Joell Ortiz and Nate Ruess + “It’s Quiet Uptown” from Kelly Clarkson.
As you can tell, the tape includes a collection of remixes and covers of songs from popular broadway musical “Hamilton,” by a miscellaneous, multi-genre group of all-star collaborators. Many of the features are pretty unsurprising — like The Roots (Questlove and Black Thought co-produced the original cast recording) and John Legend (on whom Hamilton’s George Washington is modeled). Others aren’t quite as expected – like Ben Folds and Doomtree’s Dessa who are also features on the tape. But all the artist merge around Hamilton’s eye-catching songs, its captivating ideals and the way it portrays America.
Check out the first two releases below and tell us what you think!
