To honor the second anniversary of Laquan McDonald’s tragic death at the hands of the Chicago Police Department, Vic Mensa has dropped a powerful new video for his track “16 Shots.”

In a recent interview with Rap-Up, the emcee says that “16 Shots specifically was inspired by my time in the streets of Chicago after the murder of Laquan McDonald by a Chicago police officer, Jason Van Dyke.” He adds, “I’ve been getting harassed and f**ked with by police since I was 11 or 12 years old. … So ’16 Shots’ is a record I’ve been wanting to make for years.”

Within the past few weeks, Mensa had teamed up with TIDAL for a pledge to vote in order to end to police brutality, where you can vote here.
