Civil Interview: Zaytoven Talks Past and Upcoming Projects, Acting & More
by Staff Editor
When you’re making music, what process do you go through to figure what instrument sound right or which artist would be the right fit for the song?
Well, when I make music there’s nothing really scientific about it. Anytime I make a beat whether it’s for Future, whether it’s for Gucci, whether it’s for Beyonce, there’s nothing premeditated. I’m not thinking of a direction. It’s just how I feel at that time. When I start pressing keys and hitting on the drum machine, whatever comes out, however it comes out, that’s what we roll with. That’s just my process, I don’t know what it’s gonna sound like, but we just go with it. Almost playing around and keeping it fun.
How did you get into acting?
Acting is something I never pictured myself getting into. I never thought about acting. Even now, I’m not trying to be an actor. I’m doing it for the fun of it. I feel like I’m in a position to do whatever I wanna do, so if it works it works. If it don’t work, I don’t care. I just wanted to try it and do.
That’s what kind of got me shooting movies. I just wanted to do something besides doing music. And I love doing it! It’s so fun! I have a ball doing it so it’s something I’m going to continue to do it.
Tell us about Finesse The Movie.
Finesse The Movie was almost like a ‘janky promoter’ movie. It shed the light and all the flaws that comes with the entertainment business. We just made it funny and turned it into a funny story. Everybody in the world wanna be a rapper, wanna be an actor, wanna be an entertainer. We just shed light on all the tricks of the trade on people that’s janky and phony in this business, or say they’re in the business. That’s the reason we came up with that movie.
So can you give us a peak at some stuff we can look forward to that you’re working on?
Before the year is up You should be on the look out for the Sixers, which is Gucci Mane and Drake. That’s definitely on the way. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to be on the project, but I’ll be all over it. Look out for Beast Mode 16. It’s the follow up to Beast Mode. The single should be dropping sometime in 2 weeks. It’s called “Used To Be.” Be on the look out for that.
We are also working on our third movie. It’s called Birds of a Feather 2. I’ll be going into shooting in October, so I’m excited about that.
