Talk about a potentially interesting change to the music streaming wars.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is reportedly in talks to acquire Jay Z’s fairly new, and increasingly popular service, TIDAL. The details of the potential deal aren’t known at this time.

It’s been made clear by the sources that these talks are simply ongoing and could very easily result in no deal. That being said, it wouldn’t be too bad of a move for Apple who could wipe out their new competition and also adopt some of the key pieces of TIDAL that separate them from Apple.

A Tidal spokesman told the WSJ that Tidal executives had not held talks with Apple, however. Apple declined comment to CNBC as well. Something to keep in mind.
