Future Covers July Double Issue Of ‘Rolling Stone’, Talks Ciara, Desiigner & More
by Staff Editor
Add another accomplishment to the Wizard’s laundry list. Future has been tapped to cover the upcoming July double issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.
For the very detailed cover story, Future dishes on it all from his past relationship with Ciara and how he moved past it, to going from regular rapper to red carpet-ready, his insane work ethic when it comes to the music, his life as a high schooler and his rebellious actions, growing up in rough areas and much more.
Finally, Future (sort of) addressed Desiigner comparisons, saying, “I never worried about anyone else … I don’t even want his name in the article.” Take with that as you will.
Here are some quotes from the interview:
On moving past Ciara:
“I remember Esco going, ‘You need to spend time in the studio and get back to creating,'” Future says. “‘Block all that shit out. You going through a lot right now. Turn that shit into music, or it’s gonna get the best of you.’ Because everything’s popping up in the media. Every day, it’s something. It was getting bigger than my music.”
On what he was like in high school:
“I was caught up in the streets,” he says, with real regret. “I’m smarter today than I was then. If I was smart as I am now, I would have asked for more work. I would have been reading more books. Just as much as I work in the studio now, I would have been in school that much.”
On avoiding negativity:
I don’t even talk about being locked up in any of my songs,” he says. “I did whatever came with my environment. I played the hand that was dealt to me.”
