YG season is rapidly approaching with the upcoming release of his long-awaited sophomore album, now titled Still Brazy.

After the Bompton native made the announcement of the new title and the forthcoming release date (June 17) just a day ago, it’s time to officially kickstart the promo.

YG covered the latest issue of LA Weekly Music, where he discussed the long-awaited new project, what fans can expect from it and why he’s so confident in the project. “It’s another classic,” he confidently told the publication.

The cover story dives deeper into the life of YG, however.

Since dropping his well-received debut album My Krazy Life, YG’s dodged everything from music industry BS, to literally dodging bullets. Because of that, it’s hard for the emcee to trust pretty much anybody. He says, “Motherf**kers don’t really know where I’m at. I don’t trust nobody.”

When it comes to the music, YG is nothing short of picky. When deciding on beat selections and things related to the song, YG says, “It’s a feeling — the sound, the flow and the storyline. Does it fit the storyline? Is it cohesive?” He continues. “There’s levels to this sh*t. It’s not just, ‘What song sounds the best?’ There are a lot of different elements.”

Then of course, there’s YG’s “controversial” side, which he never shies away from. Cue in, “FDT (F*ck Donald Trump” with fellow west coast native Nipsey Hussle.

“Me and Nip talk about various stuff we need to do, but we always get blackballed by the police — shows get canceled and all types of stuff because of what represent,” YG says. “So we were hesitant about taking it to the next level and press the line. Then we were like, ‘F*ck that. We have to. This shit is getting carried away.’ It seemed like everybody else was too scared to say something, to speak on how the people really feel.”

But most importantly, the focus is on #StillBrazy, which finally will be in our possession on June 17th. As far as how he’s feeling about it? YG confidently says, “It’s another classic.”
