Last week, we saw the return of KRS-One with a fiery diss track to longtime nemesis MC Shan, bringing on the nostalgia. Today, KRS is back again, but this time on a more somber note.

Teaming up with DJ Static, the legendary emcee drops a powerful tribute to the late Phife Dawg titled “The Phife Tribute.” Bringing the energy, KRS reminisces on the impact Phife not only had on himself, but the industry as a whole.

During his rant at the end of the track, KRS encourages the rest of the rap game to drop their own tribute track and to never let Phife’s name be forgotten. Whether they will or not is to be determined, but this is one hell of a start from KRS-One.
