Gunman Opens Fire in Louisiana Theatre Killing 3, Injuring 7

Police in Lafayette, Louisiana responded to a shooting Thursday night at the Grand Theatre 16, which originally stated there were “multiple victims” at the time of the call about 7:30 p.m. CST. 

CNN reports the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot. The information was shared by Sgt. James Anderson of the Louisiana State Police. 

Reports state the scene after the shooting could be described as chaotic and Governor Bobby Jindal is headed to the crime area. Those in the area provides details to the scene such as people running and screaming after the shooting.

“I see a lady full of blood in a dress,” Robert Martinez said. “She was just looking at me in complete fear.”

Update: More details from the shooting have been released stating there was 100 people inside the theater at the time and three are dead including the 58-year-old white male shooter. In addition to the death total, seven others have been injured and the weapon used was a handgun.
