The Internet erupted a couple weeks ago when New York’s own Troy Ave dropped his debut album Major Without A Label 100% independently. The album didn’t sell a ton of records (about 4,500 units in the first week) and while the Internet was having a ball poking fun at Troy, him and his team and several other tastemakers quickly defended the rapper, making it clear that Troy was getting way more money per album then the major artists.

Another New York artist who has had crazy independent success is Joey Bada$$. Joey tweeted: “Reminder: Joey Bada$$ sold 57,000+ albums in its first week…INDEPENDENTLY. At 20 years old…$10 an album…85% of the shares. Do the math.” Followed by, “That makes me the number 1 independent hip-hop artist/brand in the world.” Troy responded subliminally with, “NO single, NO party hosting, NO real endorsements. Reminder: Nobody cares + u WORK for Sony Red / Cinematic Records. #FakeIndependent.

Tiring, I know.

Yesterday (7/7) before Joey and Pro Era hosted the second annual Steez Day show in support of fallen member Capital Steez, Bada$$ stopped by Hot 97 to talk about the brewing beef, and to let us know that it’s been officially ended. Joey and Troy apparently spoke about the situation through mutual friends and it is no longer an issue. Just how rap beefs should play out.

Watch his interview with Hot 97 above where he explains the situation. Continue to rest easy, Steez.
