Jhene Aiko armed with a guitarist, microphone and a video camera showed some love to the legendary Bill Withers by covering his classic singles “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Lovely Day.” In honor of Withers’ 77th birthday, Aiko takes the acoustic route to the iconic songs effortless blending her voice between the guitar strings.

“One of the things that inspires me the most about Bill is his attention to lyrics and storytelling,” Jhene stated in an email to The Fader. “It wasn’t about his image, being flashy, or putting on a ‘show.’ For him, it was about the song. No fluff, just pure feeling. It was about connecting. It was about the music. And it is still about the music.”
