New Music : Thundercat Feat. Flying Lotus & Kamasi Washington – ‘Them Changes’
by Staff Editor
Not that many are hip to the jazz-fusion bassist, Thundercat. But thanks to his notable contributions on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly and performing live at various festivals, the esteemed instrumentalist and producer is changing all of that.
Thundercat has announced a new project with the great Flying Lotus, The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam, available July 22. Flying Lotus produced about half of the project’s 6-tracks, and the album features the keyboard stylings of Herbie Hancock, Mono/Poly, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson –who most notably arranged a bunch of Dilla beats for a full orchestra.
Tha Cat will be on tour, starting August. Check out the tour dates below and see if you can catch the musical genius live.
Aug 01 – 02 Happy Valley, OR – Pickathon Festival @ Pendarvis Farm
