Empire fans are in for a real treat for Season 2. Fox has confirmed that the 2nd season of the new hit show will include 18 episodes instead of 12, like they had in Season 1. Executives have also revealed that the season will be split into two halves with a “major cliffhanger” in between. There’s no word on how long the break will be in between the two halves, but hopefully it’ll feel like two short seasons wrapped in one.

In addition to the expansion of episodes, it’s also being reported that Ne-Yo will be involved in the writing of the music, but it hasn’t been confirmed wether or not he’ll actually appear in the music-based show.
