Kendrick Lamar is on fire. His sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly came out a couple weeks ago and the response has been great. After moving over 350,000 units in the first week, it’s safe to say Kendrick avoided the sophomore slump with his number 1 album. Now, for the takeover.

After being announced as one of the major headliners for the 2015 Summer Jam Festival taking place in June, Kendrick Lamar stopped by Hot 97 to talk about a slew of things. First and foremost was his brand new album To Pimp A Butterfly, in which Kendrick explains the album title, as well as what he was trying to convey on the critically acclaimed project.

K. Dot also touched on his long-awaited joint project with J. Cole and when that’ll be dropping (according to Kendrick, it’s “definitely” still happening). Kendrick also touched on the new streaming service that Jay Z just announced called Tidal and how he feels about it, advice he’s gotten from Prince, why he chose to put the 2Pac interviews at the end of his album and much more.

Interestingly enough, Kendrick says that he forgives all of his haters (which is a high number these days) and he makes it abundantly clear that his album is not yet a classic. One day, maybe. But today, Kendrick says, “let it live a little bit.”
