T-Boz and Chilli recently released an open letter to artists via the Huffington Post blog. The TLC members began the letter by thanking everyone for supporting them as they prepare to work on their fifth and final album. Over $430,000 was raised through the group’s Kickstarter campaign to fund the album, surpassing their goal of $150,000.

The heartfelt letter discusses the present and future of the music world, which TLC describes as a “new wave of creative expression.”

“…We are at a place in time when fellow artists can raise one another up and sponsor one another into an age of creative freedom…We have seen fruitful partnerships and mentorships in music for generations; examples of artists taking chances for fellow artists in order to watch them grow…”

TLC also mentioned the impact of music legends such as Lionel Richie, Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder as well as modern- day greats including Pharrell, Frank Ocean, and Kendrick Lamar. T-Boz and Chilli expressed that they are grateful for their fans and inspired by fellow artists.
