Everybody wants a piece of Rick Famuyiwa’s coming-of-age dramedy Dope. Featuring A$AP Rocky, the film sparked an all-night bidding war at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend – according to various sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter.

Dope is in position of finding a U.S. home with either Open Road (U.S.) and Sony (international). The film could spark the biggest deal of the festival thus far leading with $7 million – sources also claim there is at least a minimum of $20 million marketing commitment.

Premiered Saturday (Jan. 24) evening, Dope is set against the backdrop of a post-hip hop, gang-ridden neighborhood of Inglewood, California. The film follows the story a high school geek (Shameik Moore) who is attempting to get into Harvard while avoiding drugs and other challenged.

Forest Whitaker narrates the film which also stars Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Zoe Kravitz and Blake Anderson. Whittaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi produced the film; Michael Y. Chow, David Lonner and Famuyiwa executive produced.

Congrats to Famuyiwa and the Dope cast!
