Azealia Banks Responds to Kendrick Lamar’s Comments on Ferguson
by Staff Editor
When asked about the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, in an interview with Billboard, Kendrick Lamar was quick to say that it never should have happened. What he went on to say is what has upset a lot of people, including Azealia Banks.
“When we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us?” Lamar said. “It starts from within. Don’t start with just a rally, don’t start from looting — it starts from within.”
Azealia Banks quickly took to her Twitter to express her disagreement with Lamar’s opinion.
Check out some of the tweets below.
“When we don’t respect ourselves how can we expect them to respect us” dumbest shit I’ve ever heard a black man say.

There are still young black kids in our public schools being indoctrinated with the same shit they pumped into my head.
— AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) January 9, 2015
And fuck all this shit about erasing racial barriers and getting along… Why does white America think blacks even wanna be here?!

The black community will NEVER be able to “fix” itself so long as we’re living within white means and by white devices.
— AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) January 9, 2015
So long as the social studies textbook bangs into you all the stories of why you CANT….. you will never be able.
— AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) January 9, 2015
So long as we speak white languages and celebrate white holidays, and worship white saints WITH REVERANCE… we will never be able.
