Many people have had their hands in the business side of hip-hop but few are as successful as Wendy Day. Wendy Day assisted in landing multi-million dollar deals for Cash Money Records and No Limit Records and worked with major artists in hip-hop history such as 2Pac. Sharing some insight on her industry dealings, Wendy Day interviewed with Nahright where she spoke on ensuring 2Pac stayed alive before going to jail, landing those huge deals and more.

During the interview Day chronicles how she assisted 2Pac after being shot in New York. Calling him a friend, she stated that he needed protection in a foreign city because he didn’t know who wanted him dead.

“He just knew that he had been shot, he had his suspicions, but nobody knew for sure. I felt like he was out here alone and he shouldn’t be,” said Day. “At the time I had a relationship with the Fruit of Islam, who are the protection side of the Nation of Islam. So I reached out to my friend who is very high up in the Fruit of Islam and I just asked if they could protect him for 24 hours until he went to court because we all knew that he was going to be found guilty.”

By helping Pac, he felt Day was a great fan, however, she wasn’t a fan, in fact she felt the late rapper was an “asshole.”

“Well I’m very outspoken and I speak my mind and I was not a fan of his music at the time, I really thought he was an asshole,” Day shared. “I took the opportunity to write him back and correct him and say ‘dude I’m not a fan of your music, first of all. Second of all, every time I’ve ever seen you at a club you’re always loud and obnoxious.’”

Beyond her sentiments and his jail stint, Day planned to help 2Pac with a business plan, which included day-care and community centers and a record label under the name Euthanasia.

When detailing her working with the rising labels of the 1990s and early 2000s, such as Cash Money and No Limit, Wendy Day states that rappers are coming up short due to today’s economy, comparing the millions sold in weeks to no rap album going platinum in the year 2014.

Also in part one of her sit down, she speaks on her relationship with Cash Money Records, Young Buck, who she calls the strongest person she has met, and more.
