Nelly on CNN

With riots and protests occurring in Ferguson, close to his hometown of Saint Louis, Missouri, Nelly visited CNN to speak about the on going conflict in the Midwest suburb in efforts of justice for Mike Brown. In addition to speaking on his home city, Nelly joined the people of Missouri in the protests that have been going on daily in Ferguson.

While on CNN, Nelly spoke with anchor Erin Burnett about shooting Brown’s death, supporting Brown’s death and his experiences growing up in St. Louis. Also within his conversation he discussed the existing racial tensions of the city that never exploded into the scene until now.

“I think the whole point that we should be doing is making sure that we get the type of verdict that is needed at the end of this situation to ensure that the next situation, the officer will take as much as time to think about doing that than this one did,” Nelly shared. “That’s how you change it. Because as of right now we haven’t seen to many penalties for officers killing young black men.”

Other than sharing time on CNN, Nelly took to the streets of Ferguson and spoke to the protestors via megaphone words of inspiration.

Nelly’s interview with CNN can be viewed above and his visit to Ferguson can be seen on the next page.
