Oscar-winning actor Robin Williams died today (August 11) at the age of 63. Police in Marin County, California confirmed the death of the actor, who was found dead in his home as a result of suicide by asphyxiation.

His publicist, who stated that the actor was recently battling depression, confirmed Williams’s death and also stated the actor was recently released from a 12-step rehab program for drug abuse.

The wife of Williams, Susan Schneider expressed her emotions in a statement: “I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
