Former Miami Heat Center Greg Oden is the latest sports star to be arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman. Officers arrived at his home in the early morning hours to find the victim laying across the bed, holding her face, according to USA Today.

“He punched her in the face,” a witness identified as the victim’s best friend said, according to the police report.”There isn’t that much love in the world. You need to tell that he punched you in the face.”

Initially “uncooperative,” the victim was seen to have “swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area of the victim’s face,” the report states. The police also found “blood on the sofa and floor in the sitting area. (They) observed (blood) on the living room carpet (and) dirt from a flower pot that was knocked over.”

The former No. 1 pick and Ohio State University standout is said to have been “calm and cooperative” when talking to police. “I was wrong, and I know what has to happen,” Oden told police, according to the report. The free agent hasn’t found home on anyone’s roster for the upcoming season and is now facing a preliminary charge for battery.
