While the rest of TDE is flourishing at the moment, the front-runner Kendrick Lamar has been rather quiet ‘these days‘, which can only mean he’s gearing up for a major sophomore album release. Breaking his silence, K. Dot sits down with 247HH for an in-depth interview.

When it comes to hip-hop today, there’s an obvious spotlight resting on the West Coast and Kendrick plans to help keep that ideology true. “If I can shine a light that branches off, so be it. I’ma do just that”, Kendrick says during part 1 of his sit down. While acknowledging that he was “down with the West Coast”, the TDE general says the East Coast/West Coast beef coming to an end saved his career because he wasn’t forced to pick a side and he was able to go back and see how influential East Coast hip-hop was to the culture.

Later on in the interview, Kendrick talked about his deal with Interscope, his top “wow” moments thus far in his career, what music he’s currently listening to, what he wants to be remembered for, street violence in Chicago and Compton, and more.

Watch all 3 parts of his interview on the following page and let’s hope K. Dot’s sophomore album is soon on the way.
