Stephen Colbert will have some lofty shoes to fill as he will replace David Letterman as the new host of CBS’ Late Show. Colbert is expected to be introduced next year as himself, not the character he plays on his political-comedy show The Colbert Report.

“Mr. Colbert, 49 years old, will retire the character he plays on his Comedy Central show and will be himself as the host of the CBS show,” according to WSJ.

His introduction will also signal the ending of his current show though there are no reports on when or how The Colbert Report will come to a close. Congrats to Stephen Colbert on his new gig.
