Sure, when you think of the radio station Hot 97, you usually think of a few things: Angie Martinez having one-on-one access with the celebrities you dream about, Funkmaster Flex hosting a freestyle from an artist that could change the rap game and Mister Cee revealing it all. But there’s more to the legendary radio network as VH1 has joined forces with WQHT and Mona Scott Young to create This Is Hot 97.

Starring Angie Martinez, Funkmaster Flex, Miss Info, Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds and Laura Stylez, here’s seven things to look forward to for the season premiere.

1. Lots of celebrity appearances.

From Macklemore’s distant stares at Ebro when overlooked as a celebrity guest, to Maino’s wacky :15 second show pitch, to Mack Wilds  getting caught in Funkmaster Flex’s pranks, This is Hot 97 has about as much celebrity appearances as a 2001 Bad Boy Hits CD. But just as a Diddy record, there’s lots of personality, spunk, and original humor to look forward to.

2. Funkmaster Flex is ultimate prankster, both practically and professionally.

If you’re looking for Flex to do more than chant “Cipha Don’t Get Gassed!” then this is the show for you. Spoiler: He tricks co-worker Miss Info into believing interns have stolen her lunch.

3. Oh, and Flex is a beast with social media.

Funk Flex just tweeted something, and you didn’t even know it. The legendary DJ of Hot 97 and future mobile app owner shows that he’s a beast when it comes to the world of social media. In his battle with his co-worker Angie Martinez, Flex teaches Martinez the tricks of the trade to mastering #hashtag and abbreviations. Only thing is he’s tucked away a very important key of his social success—interns.

4. Ebro is still maintaining his duties as H.N.I.C.

Former Hot 97 Program Director Ebro Darden may have switched sides from behind the desk to the TV set, but don’t expect his profession to completely change as he’s still pretty much does the same thing—recruiting celebrities on Hot 97—just as a personality.
