Derrick Rose

There you have it. Derrick Rose will miss the rest of the 2013-14 NBA season after suffering another knee injury this past week, according to ESPN. Rose elected to have his medial meniscus repaired on Monday (Nov. 25), which requires him to miss the rest of the season instead of having it partially, or completely, removed and returning to the court within weeks.

Rose already missed all of last season after tearing his left ACL and undergoing surgery to repair it. Now he’s damaged his right knee and will miss almost another complete season after playing only 10 games.

Coming from a native fan of the Chicago Bulls and someone who’s been aware of Derrick Rose’s talent since he attended Simeon Career Academy a few minutes away, this news is rather hard to deal with. Accepting the fact that “The Return” wasn’t going to happen at all last season was a tough pill to swallow. This time around fans of Rose and the Bulls have something they didn’t have a year ago–confirmation. What we also don’t have is a silver lining. –Keith Reid-Cleveland
