Today, Maino woke up bright and early to respond to Trinidad Jame$ on Hot 97 Morning Show hosts Ebro and Rosenberg.

“I done been in every city in America and its an unspoken law that you don’t come to anybody’s city and talk down to them,” he told Hot 97 Morning Show hosts Ebro and Rosenberg. “He got to apologize to New York city. He got to apologize to you. He got to apologize to Brooklyn. He got to apologize to Harlem. Because he disrespected us in our city. If you got an opinion, whatever your opinion is you keep it to yourself. People pay you to come here not to disrespect them.”

Trinidad Jame$ had a Kanye West moment mid-show Tuesday night when he stopped in the middle of his set to address a few of his opinions on New York City‘s music scene. “I remember when New York rap was the shit. And us in the south, us bamas, we was like ‘What the fuck?’ and we just did our own thing. But now we run y’all, musically. That’s crazy.”

It didn’t take long for his sentiments to float around and catch the attention of New York rappers everywhere, especially Maino’s. But despite the poor cell reception, Maino got his point across: “Check this out, we got issues. I addressed these issues in the song with me and [Jadakiss.] Who is he to give us a lecture on our city.”
