Mixtape: Phil The Thrill – “VAlien”

Phil The Thrill had quite the set up leading to the release of his newest project. For one, there was his recent performance at Epic Fest in Richmond, Virginia, then the heat wave which was crippling Virginia finally subsided at least for one day and now today’s his birthday. As customary in Hip-Hop on an artist’s born day, he gives us all a gift in the form of VAlien.

An obvious play off the album title Big Boi and Three Stacks made iconic, Phil briefly noted what the tape/free album/whatever you want to refer to it as actually means to him.

Valien….It’s what I’ve become over the years. Being a VAlien is not solely about being from Virginia. It’s about accepting who you are in a society full of so many people trying to fit in. With this project I wanted to give people something to feel proud of, relate to, and enjoy life to all in one. As long as one song touches somebody then my mission is complete. We are all VAliens.

There you have it. Play it at the office to help pass the day. Play it while working out. Play it while you’re stuck in traffic after everyone at work pissed you off. Just press play. That’s all you have to do. That doesn’t seem like too much work, right?
