The Side of Azealia Banks We Don’t See

VIBE took the time to share with a softer side of Azealia Banks with us. In the article written by Tracy Garraud, Banks tells of the side that no one really knows.

“Everyone thinks I’m this arrogant little twat, but I’m actually very levelheaded and real. Whether you’re from the States or London, my music will make you feel me,” says Azealia Banks. She is quick to let us all know that what is portrayed is not what exists inside. But, with all the news of beefs with other artists, sometimes that takes away from her music. But Azealia has quite the story to tell of her journey to this point in her career. After attending Manhattan’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, she left many with rave reviews including her mentor and drama teacher Harry Shifman. You may remember that Nicki Minaj attended the same school and studied drama there as well. However, Shifman is quick to separate the two lyricists. “I don’t remember Nicki having the level of ambition Azealia manifested to me,” he says. Producer Diplo also believes in Banks’ potential. He says, “Azealia wasn’t built in a marketing meeting. She doesn’t conform at all. She really [gained momentum] all by herself so that’s going to give her confidence to become a star.”  With a lot of people supporting her, it’s no wonder Banks has conquered adversity on her way to the top. Read her rest of her journey here.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. No surprise this article comes out on the heels of her twitter tirade against Lil’ Kim.
