Vybz Kartel Talks Skin Bleaching “I Bleached My Skin For The Shock Value”

Well. Yeah. Vybz Kartel – aka Sammy Sosa II – made headlines recently after photos arose of him appearing with a much lighter skin complexion. The reason being? He bleached it.
The brother has a very strong accent so I wasn’t able to make out everything word for word he said on Hot 97’s Morning Show. But he did reveal it was pretty much done for shock value, to keep people talking or simply “entertain.” Kartel also addressed the topic I was wondering: how people of darker complexion would take the move. All in all, it was a rather informative and funny interview and it’s clear to see and hear he is comfortable with his decision. While he wouldn’t give away the secret of how he did it, but apparently it is an ancient process.
hmmm wonder if that is the case or if it’s due to commenters saying that could be why he did it, coupled with the outrage felt by black people and even other races of people who knows the long struggle that people of color have to deal with when it comes to colorism.
For any reason it’s unfortunate. I wish entertainment gets back to a place where people are just that, entertaining and these gimmicks aren’t needed. Or at the very least, people would stop selling their souls to top charts.
