Coming to VH1 will be the four part documentary The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop. Steve Stoute is the man behind this documentary which is derived from his book The Tanning of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture That Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy. 

Highlighting the change of America within the election of Barack Obama and the development of the hip hop culture the documentary will visit the large span of the genre within it’s 30 years.

Speaking in the documentary on the integration of the hip hop within various sectors of America are celebrities such as Diddy, Dr. Dre, Rick Rubin, Mariah Carey and more. 

The first quarter of The Tanning of America documentary series will kick off on Monday February 24th at 11 p.m. EST. Check out the official trailer for the documentary above.
