In light of last week’s MOBO Awards and the Mercury Prize just a couple days ago, there have also been some exciting news and brilliantly produced great music to create eargsms for a while. Peep below and see what’s good in this week’s UK Spin.

1. Joey Bada$$ Collaborates With Maverick Sabre For “My Yout” Remix.

The incarnation of young Escobar, Joey Bada$$ has been giving us old school 90’s hip-hop in its best form. So for his reggae influenced cut “My Yout,” Bad$$ enlisted UK’s Maverick Sabre for his soulful reggae vibe on vocal duties. Produced by Chuck Strangers, Bada$$ takes us to the beautiful island of St. Lucia for the Motion Family-directed visuals.

2. Ghetts Enlists Wretch 32 For Lead Single Party Animal Remix “Ain’t No Tomorrow.”

Popping the lid off his long silence in music with the Rebel With A Cause introduction, Ghetts is back with his The Movement mate Wretch 32 for his Party Animal remix “Ain’t No Tomorrow.” This comes as a refreshing departure from the original, which had Top Boy’s Kano serving a hot 16. 3. Ellie Coulding Reveals Video for “How Long Will I Love You”

Taken from her critically acclaimed album Halcyon Days, British singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding serves new visuals for her official Children In Need charity single “How Long Will I Love You.” Filmed entirely on a Nokia Lumia 1020, we see Ellie and her significant other on an wildly, impulsive adventure. The cut is also featured in short film titled Tom & Issy.

4. James Black Takes Home a Mercury Prize Award and Drops His Own Spin On Drake’s “Come Thru.”

James Blake took home the coveted Best British Album of the Year award at this year’s Mercury Prize for his Overgrown album.  Having previously been nominated for the prize in 2011 for his self-titled debut album, the singer-songwriter is now an actual recipient. Overgrown was dubbed by the judges as “inventive, poetic and poignant,” adding “James Blake makes music like no one else.”

“This is the first award I’ve ever won apart from a tennis trophy I won when I was 12,” the Prize winner said. Other winners of the night include Laura Mvula, Ruidmental, David Bowie Jake Bugg and Disclosure.

James Blake also grabbed headlines when he unveiled his remix of the Drake’s “Come Thru” taken from his Nothing Was The Same. Listen here.

 

5. Tinie Tempah Drops “Discovering Destiny” Documentary and  Big Sean Collab.

South London rapper Tinie Tempah and GOOD Music’s Big Sean revisited the studio to create new cut, “Shape,” taken from the rapper’s upcoming sophomore album, Demonstration.

Tinie also collaborated with YouTube and drop his “Discovering Destiny” documentary. Directed by Jabari Johnson, the hour-long doc gives an inside look on the rapper’s background, his journey as an international force and the how he became the first-ever British rapper to sell out the world famous O2 Arena. Press play above and discover your destiny.

6. Naughty Boy Releases Video for “Think About It” With Wiz Khalifah and Ella Eyre. 

British producer and Mobo Award winner Naughty Boy whips up visuals for the latest single taken his debut album. Watch above.

7. Sasha Keable Drops Black Book EP.

Disturbing London’s Sasha Kebeable released her 30-minutes, 8-track Black Book EP. The 19-year-old London-based singer/songwriter/producer decided it was about time she served up something official for her fans.

8. Wretch 32 Throws Fire In His Just Blaze and Baauer “Higher” Freestyle

Wretch 32, who is currently recruiting gamers for his Call of Duty Squad, released the Just Blaze and Baauer production “Higher” to appease his fans who await his Growing Over Life sophomore album due early next year.

9. Kwabs Collaborates with SOHN on “Last Stand.”

Ghana-born Kwabs (Kwabena Adjepong) returns with the incredible “Last Stand” for our listening pleasure. The soul singer sets us up for his upcoming debut album coming in 2014 with the effortless vocals on the SOHN production. The new cut evokes a slightly suspenseful emotion, yet soulful and intense. Driven by a heavy bass line with synth accents and slow drums, you most definitely will be inclined to leave it on repeat.
