Now that we all have a taste of what new material from Aaliyah would sound like, here family has weighed in with their opinion. Her brother had a few words for anyone who wants to know how the Haughton Family feels.

Despite the fact that making a posthumous album for Aaliyah could potentially be the highlight of Drake’s life, her family isn’t hearing it. Her brother, Rashad Haughton ,has taken to Aaliyah’s Official Facebook Page to release an official family statement about the situation.

“there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.”

Here is the irony with that entire situation: Aaliyah’s label, which is run by her uncle Barry Hankerson, is responsible for the dealings with her music. That means that her immediate family and her uncle are not in total agreement about the ordeal at this time. But the label was involved in the release of “Enough Said” because the logo is on the cover of the single.

I would hate for an idea like this to break apart family ties. Do you think Drake should stop trying to make the project happen? Tell us how you feel about the entire situation.

I feel like Drake wouldn’t do anything against the family wishes. He’s probably not pushing it that hard but is riding with it as it develops, for now

  2. FT says:

I think Drake should definitely make sure the family has approved the project out of respect. The album is a great idea but he should not be allowed to make all these decisions without speaking to the right people first.

  3. WHO CARES WHO IT IS … WHY EVEN GO THAT ROUT … WE NEED TO LET HER REST IN PEACE AND KEEP #ROCKIN OUT TO HER MUSIC I GREW UP WITH … LET ME HAVE MY MEMORIES OF HER JUST LIKE HER FAMILY … THEY GOING TO DO NOTHING BUT CHOP AND SCREW HER VOICE ALONG WITH THE MUSIC … REALLY COME ON!
