1. The Weeknd – Kiss Land – 99,000 (99,000) – If I can be perfectly honest, I liked it better when The Weeknd was this ominous figure – sort of like how Sting used to just watch wrestling matches from the rafters and would only come down at the end and beat people up with his baseball bat. To be fair, Abel remains a very much secluded person, but now I feel like we’re getting to know him more and more through interviews and non-musical avenues (which I totally “get” why).

If this doesn’t make much sense, I swear it did in my head. But kudos to him for the strong first week. Not bad at all. He’s probably going to always be stuck under the House Of Balloons curse – that was one hell of a project for the record – but KL was an honest attempt to recreate that feeling.

3. 2 Chainz – B.O.A.T.S. II #MeTime – 64,000 (64,000) – The true (no pun intended) testament is going to be if Chainz has mammoth follow up singles on this album as he did on the last one a la “Birthday Song” and “I’m Different.”

5. Janelle Monae – The Electric Lady – 47,000 (47,000) – Cop this. It’s well worth the pennies that you were just going to spend on an overpriced drink at the bar anyway. “Primetime” featuring Miguel may be the best R&B song of the year.

8. Tamar Braxton – Love & War – 35,000 (149,000) – I’ve got nothing on this. She’s putting up consistent numbers. So that’s good.

9. Ariana Grande – Yours Truly – 31,000 (169,000) – So who’s going to be the first award show to have Ariana and Mariah perform together?

10. John Legend – Love in the Future – 30,000 (98,000) – While it has nothing to do with this album – that isn’t receiving much promotion it seems like for some reason – I heard “Ordinary People” the other day. Legend’s been around for awhile. See, told you it had nothing to do with this album.

18. Jay Z – Magna Carta Holy Grail – 17,000 (974,000) – Imagine the hoopla if he and Beyonce shot an “On The Run” video. With Blue Ivy. And premiere it at halftime of a Monday Night Football game or some wild sh*t like that. Twitter would probably cave in on itself.

28. Juicy J – Stay Trippy – 13,000 (99,000) – While it likely wouldn’t do much to help his sales, a video for “Gun Plus A Mask” would be dope. One, it’d be a good look for Yelawolf. And two, it sorta-kinda has that old Three 6 Mafia feel.

30. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – The Heist – 12,000 (1,069,000) – Again, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if these guys won a Grammy next year for “Best Rap Album.”

36. Big Sean – Hall of Fame – 9,000 (99,000) – Wow.

47. Kendrick Lamar – good kid, m.A.A.d. city – 6,000 (1,033,000) – I’ll say it. “Sing About Me” is my favorite Hip-Hop song of the past 11 months.
